The lecture of "The overspent American" which I listened in the scott library is a business video .The professor Julia Schor Scrutinizes Americans as the new consumerism which means Americans upscale spending is driven by a commerical media system .At the beginning of the lecture professor includes her academic research about thr cultural forces that cause Americals to increase their annual work hours.Moreover,the professor examines why many Americans spend more money than they could afford in order to participate in a consumption comperion with others.She also indicates that most Amercians spend a lot of money to buy products which are produce in the multinational corporation .these goods are more expensive than any other companies products .Finally ,the professor recommends an althernative for saving money which are stop to buy the brand name (multinational corporation products ),and control cuntomer desire.
Critique:At the beginning of the lecture ,the professor gives us the research which is compelling and understand the reasons behind the overspending Americans and why they do it .therefore,it is easy for listeners to understand this lecture.Futhermore ,the most esssential part is that people want to purchase things because of the brand name .In addition ,the professor states important suggestions on how to save money and how to not getting caught up in the rate that i strongly agree.However ,it is difficult for people to do it .Most people think that the multinational corportion 'products are much better than others .There is a bisa in the lecture ,the professor does not interview any consumers .This lecture is valuable for me ,i learn how to save money ,i think that is very useful to everybody .
