Reflection

Time goes fast,now it is the end of this session ,everyone become busy right now ,because all of us start to write the final reseach paper.Although it is harder than any assignment ,we can learn a lot things from that .this session ,i think our critique improve a lot ,and our writing skills also improved.in my opinion ,my writing is better than last session ,i know how to write to suppoting sentences ,so they are very helpful .

Lecture of the overspent American

Summary:

The lecture of "The overspent American" which I listened in the scott library is a business video .The professor Julia Schor Scrutinizes Americans as the new consumerism which means Americans upscale spending is driven by a commerical media system .At the beginning of the lecture professor includes her academic research about thr cultural forces that cause Americals to increase their annual work hours.Moreover,the professor examines why many Americans spend more money than they could afford in order to participate in a consumption comperion with others.She also indicates that most Amercians spend a lot of money to buy products which are produce in the multinational corporation .these goods are more expensive than any other companies products .Finally ,the professor recommends an althernative for saving money which are stop to buy the brand name (multinational corporation products ),and control cuntomer desire.

Critique:
At the beginning of the lecture ,the professor gives us the research which is compelling and understand the reasons behind the overspending Americans and why they do it .therefore,it is easy for listeners to understand this lecture.Futhermore ,the most esssential part is that people want to purchase things because of the brand name .In addition ,the professor states important suggestions on how to save money and how to not getting caught up in the rate that i strongly agree.However ,it is difficult for people to do it .Most people think that the multinational corportion 'products are much better than others .There is a bisa in the lecture ,the professor does not interview any consumers .This lecture is valuable for me ,i learn how to save money ,i think that is very useful to everybody .

Culture Shock~

In the lecture "Culture Shock",the professor gives us a clear definition about what the culture shock is. It is very nice for her to makes several examples which can help us to understand the main idea of this lecture.Moreover,she also compair the different countries' norms and values ,and she makes a chart to show Amercian values and korean values,base on that ,I learn Amercian value is independent ,but for korean ,the family is more important than the individual .Later ,i also think my country 's value ,it is very similar to the korean .In addition ,she indicates the four mechanisms ,and how do people act when they face the culture shock.Therefore ,I memorize when i just come to Canada ,when i face culture how did i act .The professior shows the four stages of the culture ,　and she also gives a example for each stage ,and the examples help us to know which stage we are in now.In my opinion ,the most important part in this lecture is the prefosser states how to overcome culture shock.althougt I think i already pass the culture shock stage,but i can use them when i go to any other countries.Therefor ,I think this lecture is very valuable for me .i learn a lot from this lecture .

Reflection of these week

I was so happy in this class,teacher and classmates are friendly ,and class are very interesting .I think we do not have a lot homework between tuesday and friday ,but at weekend i need to do so much homework such as the listening log ,reading log,and vocabulary .In my opinion ,i think the critique is much harder than any other homework ,i spend such a long time to work on it .The idiom is easy to understand ,but when i use them ,i 'm not sure it is right or not .Moreover i think the movie which we watched yesterday is very interesting ,because it is talked about the chinese immigrants .All of the assignment are relate to our research paper ,it is good for us .

Critique of WALMART

The lecture of WALMART is about the employees' welfare in WALMART.At the beginning of this lecture the presenter show us the background of WALMART and other small stores which can help us to understand how the WALMART bulid up . Although the presenter does not appear in the lecture and he does not show us his own opinion about the problem of welfare ,i can see that his position is against the condition of the WALMART.He focuses on the bad benefits of employees ,such as the vacation ,health care ,child care,and all of these problems are caused by not Unionize company WALMART;therefore,i think WALMART should creat union which can solve all the problems .Moreover,this lecture is balance ,because the presenter gives us some interviews and statistics for evidence .He interviews dofferent employees and managers who work in WALMART,and he also shows us the different problems ,such as the working condition of employees ,the career ,and the benefits(vacation ,health care,child care).In my opinion ,WALMART is a big company which should provide a good welfare to the worker who work in the company ;therefore ,employees can pay attation on their work .In conclusion ,i think this lecture is valuble for me ,because base on this lecture ,i realize that the inside a big company there are also have problem between employees and managers .

My impression of YUELI

I studied at YUELI for ten months, I learn a lot in here .When I first day in here ,I was lost.Because the location of YUELI is so confused ,I spend long time to find the direction .My first class in level 3 ,the teacher's name is Mary who is a new teacher in YUELI .I also met my best friend in here,so I'm so glad to study in here.Now I study in level 5a which is more harder than before,I need study work hard.In this session ,I really want to improve my writing skill,and reasing skill .My writing is not good ,I will fouce on my sentence stucture and grammar ,and use the acdamic words ,which can make my essay more beauty than before.In addition ,reading also a big probem for my English skill.I want to learn how to understnad the article without using the dictionary,and how can I read article quickly. Finally ,i want to learn how to answer the questions from the article.
